Indian equity benchmark indices, the BSE Sensex and Nifty 50, are expected to open on a firm note on May 29, supported by positive cues from GIFT Nifty, which was trading higher around 23,864.5 in early trade.
In the previous session on May 27, domestic markets remained range-bound amid ongoing geopolitical concerns related to the US-Iran situation, despite some easing in crude oil prices. After a weak start, benchmark indices recovered initial losses and moved between gains and losses through the day, eventually closing marginally lower.
On Wednesday, the 30-share benchmark index ended ar 75867.8 down by -141.9 points or by -0.19 % and then NSE Nifty was at 23907.15 down by -6.55 points or by -0.03 %.
On the global front, most Asian markets advanced in early trade on Friday morning as reports suggest possibility of a trade deal between the US and Iran amid renewed tension in West Asia. The Nikkei 225 and the Kospi were up 2.12 per cent and 2.15, respectively.
Overnight, the S&P 500 and the Dow Jones Industrial Average were trading 0.05 per cent and 0.58 per cent higher, respectively. The Nasdaq Composite was up 0.91 per cent.

The FIIs on 27/05/2026 stood as net buyer in equity and debt. Gross equity purchased stood at Rs. 15280.16 Crore and gross debt purchased stood at Rs. 678.04 Crore, while the gross equity sold stood at Rs. 16310.05 Crore and gross debt sold stood at Rs. 394.99 Crore. Therefore, the net investment of equity and debt reported were Rs. -1029.89 Crore and Rs. 283.05
