MARKET COMMENTARY

Indian benchmark indices are expected to open on a flat-to-positive note on July 15, supported by firm trends in GIFT Nifty, which was trading around 24,045.50 in early trade.

In the previous session, domestic equity benchmarks ended sharply lower as rising crude oil prices, triggered by escalating geopolitical tensions in the Middle East, coupled with weak global market cues, dampened investor sentiment.

On Tuesday, the 30-share benchmark index ended at 77054.94 down by -561.46 points or by -0.72 % and then NSE Nifty was at 24052.05 down by -158.95 points or by -0.66 %.

On the global front, most Asian markets were trading higher as oil prices remained flat amid tensions in West Asia. Japan’s Nikkei 225 and South Korea’s Kospi were trading 0.31 per cent and 5.57 per cent up, respectively.

Overnight, the Dow Jones Industrial Average and the S&P 500 ended 0.02 per cent and 0.38 per cent up, respectively. The Nasdaq Composite settled 0.90 per cent up.

Back home, Top traded Volumes on NSE Nifty – Eternal Ltd. 42966836.00, HDFC Bank Ltd. 25605395.00, Tata Steel Ltd. 24096425.00, Oil And Natural Gas Corporation Ltd. 16299949.00, Kotak Mahindra Bank Ltd. 16237528.00, On NSE, total number of shares traded was 431.94 Crore and total turnover stood at Rs. 120723.96 Crore.

On NSE Future and Options, total number of contracts traded in index futures was 93009 with a total turnover of Rs. 15139.37 Crore. Along with this total number of contracts traded in stock futures were 1159720 with a total turnover of Rs. 78328.36 Crore. Total numbers of contracts for index options were 387921205 with a total turnover of Rs. 60778193.47 Crore. and total numbers of contracts for stock options were 5966219 with a total turnover of Rs. 416699.49 Crore.

The FIIs on 14/07/2026 stood as net buyer in equity and debt. Gross equity purchased stood at Rs. 11554.15 Crore and gross debt purchased stood at Rs. 244.29 Crore, while the gross equity sold stood at Rs. 14075.25 Crore and gross debt sold stood at Rs. 97.51 Crore. Therefore, the net investment of equity and debt reported were Rs. -2521.10 Crore and Rs. 146.78
