Indian benchmark indices are expected to open on a weak note on December 9, tracking negative cues from GIFT Nifty, which is trading soft near 25,966.50.

Markets began the week on a subdued note, ending a two-day gaining streak, with Nifty slipping close to 1 percent amid broad-based weakness and selling across sectors.

On Monday, the 30-share benchmark index ended at 85102.69 down by -609.68 points or by -0.71 % and then NSE Nifty was at 25960.55 down by -225.9 points or by -0.86 %2.

On the global front, across Asia, markets traded lower, tracking Wall Street sell-off. Mainland China’s CSI 300 was down 0.11 per cent, while Hong Kong’s Hang Seng slipped 0.41 per cent following US President Donald Trump’s approval of H200 chip sales to China, a deal that includes a substantial cut for the US government. Meanwhile, Japan’s Nikkei slipped 0.11 per cent, and South Korea’s KOSPI was down 0.39 per cent. Overnight, US equities closed lower, with the Dow Jones down 0.45 per cent, the S&P 500 declining 0.35 per cent, and the Nasdaq falling 0.14 per cent. Investors are now keenly awaiting the Federal Reserve’s policy meeting this week, with the US Fed expected to announce its policy decision on Wednesday.

Gross equity purchased stood at Rs. 12111.20 Crore and gross debt purchased stood at Rs. 220.25 Crore, while the gross equity sold stood at Rs. 12127.68 Crore and gross debt sold stood at Rs. 474.33 Crore. Therefore, the net investment of equity and debt reported were Rs. -16.48 Crore and Rs. -254.08
