Indian benchmark indices are likely to open on a weak note on August 27, tracking GIFT Nifty, which was trading lower at around 24,343 in early trade.

The domestic market struggled to extend the previous session’s gains and ended lower on August 26, marking a rangebound start to the September F&O series. The Nifty closed around the 24,200 level amid cautious sentiment and limited market momentum.

On Wednesday, the 30-share benchmark index ended at 77472.94 down by -183.15 points or by -0.24 % and then NSE Nifty was at 24207.75 down by -126.8 points or by -0.52 %.

On the global front, In the Asia-Pacific region, most markets reversed early gains to trade on a mixed note. Earlier, markets gained on optimism following Nvidia Corp’s bullish sales outlook. Japan’s Nikkei 225 fell 0.13 per cent and South Korea’s Kospi rose 1.37 per cent.

Overnight, the US share indices declined on concern about the possibility of a rate hike this calendar year after a US inflation gauge remained above the US Federal Reserve’s target rate. The Dow Jones Industrial Average and the S&P 500 ended 0.21 per cent and 0.02 per cent down, respectively. The Nasdaq Composite ended 0.08 per cent lower.
