Indian benchmark indices, Sensex and Nifty, are expected to open on a flat to negative note today, tracking weak global cues. GIFT Nifty was trading near the 25,240 mark, indicating a subdued start for domestic equities.

Further, stock-specific action will be in focus as Q2 results roll in. Elecon Engineering Company, Indosolar, Waaree Renewable Technologies, Yash Highvoltage, GK Energy, Hathway Bhawani Cabletel & Datacom, AAA Technologies, Affordable Robotic & Automation, Evoq Remedies, Intense Technologies, Oswal Overseas, Pro Fin Capital Services are scheduled to announce Q2 results today.

In the previous session (October 9), markets reversed early losses to close higher, with the Nifty ending near 25,200 amid broad-based buying across sectors.

On Thursday, the 30-share benchmark index ended at 82172.1 up by 398.44 points or by 0.49 % and then NSE Nifty was at 25181.8 up by 135.65 points or by 0.54 %.

On the global front, Overnight, US stocks paused from recent record highs as investors, lacking fresh data or catalysts during the shutdown, consolidated ahead of earnings. At the close, S&P 500 was down 0.28 per cent, Nasdaq 0.08 per cent and Dow Jones 0.52 per cent.

In Asia, markets largely slipped, tracking Wall Street with China’s CSI 300 down 1.08 per cent, Hong Kong’s Hang Seng 0.85 per cent, Japan’s Nikkei 0.63 per cent. However, South Korea’s Kospi was up 1.81 per cent after reopening from holidays.

Along with this total number of contracts traded in stock futures were 1061407 with a total turnover of Rs. 74137.57 Crore. Total numbers of contracts for index options were 70133720 with a total turnover of Rs. 13263899.90 Crore. and total numbers of contracts for stock options were 5768254 with a total turnover of Rs. 409337.46 Crore.

The FIIs on 09/10/2025 stood as net buyer in equity and debt. Gross equity purchased stood at Rs. 10949.54 Crore and gross debt purchased stood at Rs. 1433.37 Crore, while the gross equity sold stood at Rs. 10211.72 Crore and gross debt sold stood at Rs. 389.86 Crore. Therefore, the net investment of equity and debt reported were Rs. 737.82 Crore and Rs. 1043.51
