Indian benchmark indices are likely to open on a stronger note on September 3, tracking positive cues from GIFT Nifty, which was trading around 24,082.50 in early trade.

The domestic market remained under pressure in the previous session, with the Nifty and Sensex extending their decline for the third consecutive day on September 2, amid heightened geopolitical tensions in West Asia and a sharp rise in crude oil prices.

On Wednesday, the 30-share benchmark index ended at 76570.35 down by -373.93 points or by -0.49 % and then NSE Nifty was at 23914.45 down by -141.35 points or by -0.59 %.

On the global front, in the Asia-Pacific region, most markets traded higher after Trump said that the fresh strikes on Iran would be ‘short-lived’ and that the US has crucial control over the Strait of Hormuz. Japan’s Nikkei 225 and South Korea’s Kospi were trading 0.12 per cent and 1.13 per cent higher, respectively.

Overnight, the Dow Jones Industrial Average and the S&P 500 settled 0.56 per cent and 0.46 per cent higher, respectively. The Nasdaq Composite ended 0.45 per cent higher.
