Indian equity benchmarks are likely to witness a subdued start on Thursday, following three consecutive sessions of gains amid continued volatility in technology stocks. Early cues remain mildly positive, with the GIFT Nifty trading 19 points higher, up 0.09% at 7:15 AM, indicating a flat-to-positive opening for the Nifty 50.
Market action is expected to remain stock-specific as the earnings season gathers momentum. Key results to watch today include Bharti Airtel, Tata Motors (PV segment), Hero MotoCorp, and Life Insurance Corporation of India, which are scheduled to announce their Q3 earnings.
On Wednesday, the 30-share benchmark index ended at 83817.69 up by 78.56 points or by 0.09 % and then NSE Nifty was at 25776 up by 48.45 points or by 0.19 %.
On the global front, Stock markets in Asia continued their fall as the rout in technology stocks deepened amid investor concerns. South Korea's Kospi was down 2 per cent, while Hong Kong's Hang Seng was lower by 1.7 per cent, last checked.
Overnight, Wall Street indices closed in the red, with the Nasdaq 100 posting its worst two-day rout since October and breaching its 100-day moving average, according to Bloomberg. The S&P 500 and the Nasdaq index ended lower by 0.51 per cent and 1.51 per cent, respectively.
Back home, Top traded Volumes on NSE Nifty – Eternal Ltd. 64894681.00, Infosys Ltd. 28828622.00, Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd. 27775044.00, Oil And Natural Gas Corporation Ltd. 26628393.00, Wipro Ltd. 25995324.00, On NSE, total number of shares traded was 642.94 Crore and total turnover stood at Rs. 135526.90 Crore. On NSE Future and Options, total number of contracts traded in index futures was 122003 with a total turnover of Rs. 20902.63 Crore. Along with this total number of contracts traded in stock futures were 1623728 with a total turnover of Rs. 107413.93 Crore. Total numbers of contracts for index options were 57832075 with a total turnover of Rs. 9748144.50 Crore. and total numbers of contracts for stock options were 8441370 with a total turnover of Rs. 565762.23 Crore.
The FIIs on 04/02/2026 stood as net buyer in equity and debt. Gross equity purchased stood at Rs. 29484.71 Crore and gross debt purchased stood at Rs. 485.72 Crore, while the gross equity sold stood at Rs. 21923.27 Crore and gross debt sold stood at Rs. 967.85 Crore. Therefore, the net investment of equity and debt reported were Rs. 7561.44 Crore and Rs. -482.13
