Indian benchmark indices are expected to open on a positive note on July 27, supported by firm global cues, with GIFT Nifty trading around 23,939.50 in early trade.

In the previous session, domestic equity benchmarks extended their losing streak for a fifth consecutive day, as the Nifty slipped close to the 23,600 mark amid weak global sentiment. However, the market witnessed a strong recovery from intraday lows, aided by buying interest in select heavyweight stocks, helping the indices trim a significant portion of their losses before the close.

On Friday, the 30-share benchmark index ended at 76059.77 down by -331.62 points or by -0.43 % and then NSE Nifty was at 23767.45 down by -102.15 points or by -0.43 %.

On the global front, Asian markets advance, tracking a decline in oil prices. Japan’s Nikkei 225 and Hong Kong's Hang Seng were trading 0.35 per cent and 0.58 per cent higher, respectively.

Last Friday, the Dow Jones Industrial Average and the S&P 500 settled 0.46 per cent and 0.05 per cent higher, respectively. The Nasdaq Composite ended 0.64 per cent down. Back home, Top traded Volumes on NSE Nifty – Eternal Ltd. 37050034.00, Infosys Ltd. 29036900.00, ITC Ltd. 24954082.00, HDFC Bank Ltd. 23837859.00, Bajaj Finance Ltd. 18416962.00, On NSE, total number of shares traded was 421.98 Crore and total turnover stood at Rs. 110468.21 Crore.

On NSE Future and Options, total number of contracts traded in index futures was 199178 with a total turnover of Rs. 31863.59 Crore. Along with this total number of contracts traded in stock futures were 5215709 with a total turnover of Rs. 343024.87 Crore. Total numbers of contracts for index options were 110630688 with a total turnover of Rs. 17363029.56 Crore. and total numbers of contracts for stock options were 11253746 with a total turnover of Rs. 765062.96 Crore.

The FIIs on 24/07/2026 stood as net buyer in equity and debt. Gross equity purchased stood at Rs. 12726.14 Crore and gross debt purchased stood at Rs. 1932.10 Crore, while the gross equity sold stood at Rs. 15333.42 Crore and gross debt sold stood at Rs. 2834.42 Crore. Therefore, the net investment of equity and debt reported were Rs. -2607.28 Crore and Rs. -902.32
