Indian benchmark indices are poised for a strong start on July 3, supported by positive signals from GIFT Nifty despite mixed global cues. GIFT Nifty was trading over 100 points higher at 24,448, up 182 points.

In the previous session, benchmark indices extended their winning streak, closing higher on July 2 amid broad-based buying across most sectors. Gains were led by IT, auto, and realty stocks, while capital goods, power, and PSU banks witnessed some selling pressure.

After a firm opening, the market maintained its upward momentum throughout the day, with the Nifty 50 inching closer to the 24,200 mark. The rally was further supported by robust participation in the broader markets, as small-cap stocks outperformed the benchmarks.

On Thursday, the 30-share benchmark index ended at 77502.12 up by 579.48 points or by 0.75 % and then NSE Nifty was at 24175.7 up by 169.85 points or by 0.71 %.

On the global front, Most Asian markets erased early losses. Earlier, they declined as investors continued to unwind their bets on chip stocks. South Korea’s Kospi and Japan’s Nikkei 225 were trading 1.4 per cent and 0.28 per cent higher, respectively.

Overnight, the Dow Jones Industrial Average ended 1.14 per cent higher, while the Nasdaq Composite settled 0.8 per cent down. The S&P 500 was flat.
