Domestic benchmarks Nifty 50 and Sensex are likely to open the Union Budget session on weak footing, as poor global cues, persistent FII outflows, and a weak currency dampen sentiment.

Markets are likely to remain highly volatile, with sharp moves possible in either direction depending on key announcements around fiscal policy, capex push, sector-specific incentives, and the fiscal deficit target (expected around 4.3–4.4% of GDP for FY27), according to analysts.

On Friday, the 30-share benchmark index ended at 82269.78 down by -296.59 points or by -0.36 % and then NSE Nifty was at 25320.65 down by -98.25 points or by -0.39 %.

On the global front, On Friday, the S&P 500 its decline on Friday, with the benchmark index slipping 0.43 percent, marking its third consecutive losing session. The Dow Jones Industrial Average fell 0.36 percent, while the tech-heavy Nasdaq Composite underperformed, sliding 0.94 percent. All three major indexes were down more than 1 percent at their intraday lows.

Stocks retreated as technology shares stayed under pressure, even as investors broadly welcomed President Donald Trump’s nomination of Kevin Warsh as Federal Reserve chair. Gross equity purchased stood at Rs. 21375.41 Crore and gross debt purchased stood at Rs. 398.93 Crore, while the gross equity sold stood at Rs. 21447.70 Crore and gross debt sold stood at Rs. 376.17 Crore.
