Indian benchmark indices are likely to witness a flat to mildly negative opening on Tuesday, September 1, tracking GIFT Nifty, which was trading marginally lower at around 24,206.50 in early trade.

The domestic market ended on a weak note on Monday following the Closing Auction Session, with the Sensex declining over 300 points, while the Nifty settled at 24,080.40. Investors are likely to remain cautious amid mixed global cues and monitor key market triggers during the session.

On Monday, the 30-share benchmark index ended at 76957.27 down by -307.24 points or by -0.4 % and then NSE Nifty was at 24080.4 down by -95.25 points or by -0.39 %

On the global front, Asian markets were trading mostly lower on Tuesday amid renewed geopolitical tensions, as investors digested Nvidia Corp.’s announcement of a $3.5 billion investment in MediaTek Inc. Japan’s Nikkei 225 slipped 0.46 per cent, while South Korea’s Kospi traded flat with a negative bias.

Overnight, US markets also closed lower, with the Dow Jones Industrial Average declining 0.7 per cent and the S&P 500 falling 0.33 per cent. The Nasdaq Composite ended 0.12 per cent lower.
