MARKET COMMENTARY

Indian benchmark indices are expected to open on a positive note on August 10, supported by GIFT Nifty futures, which were trading higher at around 24,660 in early deals.

The domestic market ended lower in the previous session, with weakness in financial stocks weighing on the benchmarks despite strong gains in auto and IT shares. Investors are likely to track global cues and sectoral trends for further direction.

Om Friday, the 30-share benchmark index ended at 78499.17 down by -455.59 points or by -0.58 % and then NSE Nifty was at 24570.65 down by -65.35 points or by -0.27 %.

On the global front, Asian markets advanced in early deals on Monday, tracking last week's gains on Wall Street. Japan's Nikkei 225 and South Korea's Kospi were trading 1.46 per cent and 0.65 per cent higher, respectively.

Last week, the Dow Jones Industrial Average and S&P 500 settled 0.28 per cent and 0.62 per cent higher, respectively. The Nasdaq Composite settled 1.30 per cent higher.

On NSE, total number of shares traded was 416.59 Crore and total turnover stood at Rs. 118540.80 Crore.

On NSE Future and Options, total number of contracts traded in index futures was 44191 with a total turnover of Rs. 7303.88 Crore. Along with this total number of contracts traded in stock futures were 1004512 with a total turnover of Rs. 72764.63 Crore. Total numbers of contracts for index options were 70480215 with a total turnover of Rs. 11334726.85 Crore. and total numbers of contracts for stock options were 7503917 with a total turnover of Rs. 564812.37 Crore.

The FIIs on 07/08/2026 stood as net buyer in equity and debt. Gross equity purchased stood at Rs. 16629.92 Crore and gross debt purchased stood at Rs. 607.24 Crore, while the gross equity sold stood at Rs. 16163.63 Crore and gross debt sold stood at Rs. 335.50 Crore. Therefore, the net investment of equity and debt reported were Rs. 466.29 Crore and Rs. 271.74
