Indian benchmark indices are likely to open on a cautious note on September 28, tracking weak global cues and GIFT Nifty. GIFT Nifty was trading around 23,140, indicating a negative opening for the Nifty50, with futures quoted at 23,118.50, down 69 points.

Rising oil prices and weakness across most global equity markets may weigh on investor sentiment at the opening. However, domestic benchmarks had ended the previous session on a positive note, with the Nifty closing near the day’s high.

On Friday, the 30-share benchmark index ended at 73895.74 up by 315.2 points or by 0.43 % and then NSE Nifty was at 23140.5 up by 77.4 points or by 0.34 %.

On the global front, Most Asian markets declined on Monday morning as elevated energy costs cast a shadow on the inflation outlook and raised bets about further rate hikes by the US Federal Reserve. South Korea’s Kospi and mainland China’s CSI 300 fell 2.07 per cent and 1.24 per cent, respectively. Last Friday, the Dow Jones Industrial Average and the S&P 500 settled 0.93 per cent and 0.51 per cent higher, respectively. The Nasdaq Composite ended 0.48 per cent higher.

The FIIs on 25/09/2026 stood as net buyer in equity and debt. Gross equity purchased stood at Rs. 13745.13 Crore and gross debt purchased stood at Rs. 478.56 Crore, while the gross equity sold stood at Rs. 18267.09 Crore and gross debt sold stood at Rs. 257.81 Crore. Therefore, the net investment of equity and debt reported were Rs. -4521.96 Crore and Rs. 220.75
