Indian equity benchmarks, Sensex and Nifty, are likely to open on a weak note on February 6, tracking losses in GIFT Nifty, which was trading around 25,582.50 in early hours. In the previous session, domestic indices snapped a three-day winning streak and closed lower, with Nifty slipping below the crucial 25,650 level.

On Thursday, the 30-share benchmark index ended at 83313.93 down by -503.76 points or by -0.6 % and then NSE Nifty was at 25642.8 down by -133.2 points or by -0.52 %.

Further, the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) Governor Sanjay Malhotra will announce the interest rate decision at 10 AM today.

On the global front, Asia continued to trade lower on Friday, as losses in US tech stocks hurt sentiment worldwide. South Korea's Kospi was lower by 3 per cent, while Hong Kong's Hang Seng index was down nearly 2 per cent.

On Wall Street, the tech-heavy Nasdaq 100 suffered its worst three-day rout since last April's meltdown, according to Bloomberg, amid concerns of artificial intelligence (AI). The S&P 500 index and the Nasdaq were down 1.23 per cent and 1.59 per cent, respectively.

The FIIs on 05/02/2026 stood as net buyer in equity and debt. Gross equity purchased stood at Rs. 20472.11 Crore and gross debt purchased stood at Rs. 302.80 Crore, while the gross equity sold stood at Rs. 19380.21 Crore and gross debt sold stood at Rs. 152.67 Crore. Therefore, the net investment of equity and debt reported were Rs. 1091.90 Crore and Rs. 150.13
