Indian benchmark indices, Sensex and Nifty, are expected to open on a firm note today, taking cues from GIFT Nifty, which was trading around 25,280.50 earlier this morning.
Key factors likely to influence the markets include Q1 earnings, India’s Flash Manufacturing PMI for July, the Nifty F&O expiry, positive global cues, institutional investment trends, and ongoing activity in the primary market.
On the previous trading day, benchmark indices closed on a strong note, with the Nifty 50 ending above the 25,200 mark, supported by broad-based buying and positive global sentiment following the US-Japan trade agreement. Shares of heavyweights ICICI Bank and HDFC Bank also hit record highs, further boosting market sentiment.
On Wednesday, the 30-share benchmark index ended at 82726.64 up by 539.83 points or by 0.66 % and then NSE Nifty was at 25219.9 up by 159 points or by 0.63 %.
On the global front, Asia-Pacific markets were trading higher on Thursday, buoyed by positive trade developments between the US and Japan, along with encouraging signals of progress in talks with the European Union. Investor sentiment was further lifted by a strong overnight performance on Wall Street.
The Topix index rose 1.2 per cent to a record high, while the Nikkei was up 1.09 per cent, building on Wednesday's gains after the announcement of a trade agreement with the US.
Kospi advanced 1.6 per cent and the ASX 200 was trading flat.
On Wall Street, the S&P 500 posted its third consecutive record close on Wednesday, rising 0.78 per cent to end at 6,358.91, its 12th record finish this year. The Dow Jones Industrial Average jumped 507.85 points, or 1.14 per cent, to close at 45,010.29. The Nasdaq Composite gained 0.61 per cent to settle at 21,020.02, marking its first-ever close above the 21,000 mark.
