MARKET COMMENTARY

Indian benchmark indices, the BSE Sensex and Nifty 50, are expected to open on a positive note on June 24, tracking gains in GIFT Nifty, which was trading around 23,892.50 during early trade.

In the previous session, domestic equities witnessed sharp selling pressure, with the Nifty 50 slipping below the 23,850 mark. Market sentiment remained subdued as weak global cues and lingering uncertainty over US-Iran peace negotiations weighed on investor confidence, leading to broad-based declines across.

On Tuesday, the 30-share benchmark index ended at 76200.68 down by -893.39 points or by -1.16 % and then NSE Nifty was at 23824.1 down by -278.8 points or by -1.16 %.

On the global front, in the Asia-Pacific region, markets were trading on a mixed note in early trade. Japan’s Nikkei 225 was down 0.54 per cent, and Hong Kong’s Hang Seng was up 0.55 per cent.

South Korea’s Kospi rebounded after a global rout in technology stocks, with heavyweight semiconductor shares advancing. The index was up 2.77 per cent.

On NSE, total number of shares traded was 538.38 Crore and total turnover stood at Rs. 131784.41 Crore.

On NSE Future and Options, total number of contracts traded in index futures was 121651 with a total turnover of Rs. 19661.69 Crore. Along with this total number of contracts traded in stock futures were 1923955 with a total turnover of Rs. 122397.92 Crore. Total numbers of contracts for index options were 448832343 with a total turnover of Rs. 70165135.31 Crore. and total numbers of contracts for stock options were 9217289 with a total turnover of Rs. 598883.26 Crore

The FIIs on 23/06/2026 stood as net buyer in equity and debt. Gross equity purchased stood at Rs. 11374.32 Crore and gross debt purchased stood at Rs. 1089.52 Crore, while the gross equity sold stood at Rs. 11041.98 Crore and gross debt sold stood at Rs. 160.36 Crore. Therefore, the net investment of equity and debt reported were Rs. 332.34 Crore and Rs. 929.16
