Indian benchmark indices are likely to open on a muted note on Wednesday, August 12, tracking a marginally positive trend in GIFT Nifty, which was trading around 24,530 in early trade.

The domestic market ended lower in the previous session, weighed down by sharp selling in financial stocks and concerns over elevated crude oil prices amid ongoing geopolitical uncertainties.

On Tuesday, the 30-share benchmark index ended at 78154.25 down by -388.19 points or by -0.49 % and then NSE Nifty was at 24471.7 down by -112.1 points or by -0.46 %.

On the global front, Asian markets were trading on a mixed note, following overnight losses on Wall Street as traders await the US CPI data for July, due later today. South Korea's Kospi was up 1.94 per cent, while Hong Kong's Hang Seng fell 1.10 per cent.

Overnight, the Dow Jones Industrial Average and the S&P 500 ended 0.34 per cent and 0.32 per cent down, respectively. The Nasdaq Composite ended 0.6 per cent down.

Back home, Top traded Volumes on NSE Nifty – HDFC Bank Ltd. 29154365.00, Tata Steel Ltd. 20973262.00, Eternal Ltd. 20749569.00, Oil And Natural Gas Corporation Ltd. 16004168.00, ITC Ltd. 13053722.00, On NSE, total number of shares traded was 489.80 Crore and total turnover stood at Rs. 121035.77 Crore.

On NSE Future and Options, total number of contracts traded in index futures was 50264 with a total turnover of Rs. 8321.54 Crore. Along with this total number of contracts traded in stock futures were 824725 with a total turnover of Rs. 58763.35 Crore. Total numbers of contracts for index options were 217278055 with a total turnover of Rs. 34677755.69 Crore. and total numbers of contracts for stock options were 6623479 with a total turnover of Rs. 512306.17 Crore.

The FIIs on 11/08/2026 stood as net buyer in equity and debt. Gross equity purchased stood at Rs. 14641.74 Crore and gross debt purchased stood at Rs. 786.27 Crore, while the gross equity sold stood at Rs. 11135.35 Crore and gross debt sold stood at Rs. 267.82 Crore. Therefore, the net investment of equity and debt reported were Rs. 3506.39 Crore and Rs. 518.45
