MARKET COMMENTARY

Indian benchmark indices are expected to open on a subdued note on June 29, tracking the largely flat performance in GIFT Nifty, which was trading around 24,094.50 during early trade.

In the previous session, domestic equity markets extended their winning streak for a second consecutive day, with the Nifty reclaiming the 24,250 mark and closing at its highest level in over a month. The rally was primarily supported by easing crude oil prices and strong buying interest in auto, FMCG, and realty stocks. However, gains remained capped due to persistent selling pressure in the metal, IT, and oil & gas sectors.

On Thursday, the 30-share benchmark index ended at 77100.47 up by 109.25 points or by 0.14 % and then NSE Nifty was at 24056 up by 34.35 points or by 0.14 %.

On the global front, most Asian markets were trading lower in the early trade as the US attacked Iranian military targets over the weekend, escalating tension in West Asia. President Donald Trump threatened to annihilate Iran as he accused Tehran of violating the ceasefire agreement. The Nikkei 225 and the Kospi were trading 0.75 per cent and 1.14 per cent down, respectively.

Last Friday, the Dow Jones Industrial Average and the S&P 500 settled 0.09 per cent and 0.05 per cent down, respectively. The Nasdaq Composite ended 0.24 per cent down.
