Indian equities are expected to open on a subdued note today, with GIFT Nifty futures trading flat at 24,121, indicating a muted start for the benchmark indices. Weak global cues, particularly a sell-off in technology stocks, weighed on investor sentiment and pressured global equity markets.

In the previous session, domestic markets staged a strong rebound following Friday’s sharp decline. The Nifty regained momentum and closed above the 24,100 mark, supported by easing crude oil prices amid growing optimism over progress in U.S.–Iran peace negotiations. The decline in oil prices improved risk appetite and provided a boost to broader market sentiment.

On Monday, the 30-share benchmark index ended at 77094.07 up by 291.17 points or by 0.38 % and then NSE Nifty was at 24102.9 up by 89.8 points or by 0.37 %.

On the global front, most Asian markets fell in early trade on Tuesday, tracking overnight losses on Wall Street. The Nikkei 225 and the Kospi were trading 0.48 per cent and 2.5 per cent down, respectively.

Overnight, the S&P 500 and the Nasdaq Composite ended 0.37 per cent and 1.32 per cent down, respectively. The Dow Jones Industrial Average settled 0.29 per cent higher. Back home, Top traded Volumes on NSE Nifty – HDFC Bank Ltd. 25194765.00, Tata Steel Ltd. 19238506.00, Eternal Ltd. 18797609.00, Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles Ltd. 15447905.00, Reliance Industries Ltd. 12931213.00, On NSE, total number of shares traded was 485.28 Crore and total turnover stood at Rs. 118948.00 Crore.

On NSE Future and Options, total number of contracts traded in index futures was 69132 with a total turnover of Rs. 11352.29 Crore. Along with this total number of contracts traded in stock futures were 1251362 with a total turnover of Rs. 80869.15 Crore. Total numbers of contracts for index options were 100773427 with a total turnover of Rs. 15870860.21 Crore. and total numbers of contracts for stock options were 8407865 with a total turnover of Rs. 549824.20 Crore.

The FIIs on 22/06/2026 stood as net buyer in equity and debt. Gross equity purchased stood at Rs. 33372.13 Crore and gross debt purchased stood at Rs. 9442.26 Crore, while the gross equity sold stood at Rs. 27845.21 Crore and gross debt sold stood at Rs. 2573.83 Crore. Therefore, the net investment of equity and debt reported were Rs. 5526.92 Crore and Rs. 6868.43
